Greetings, beloved Family,
This is a followup to the plans being made by some of us to meet together under the aegis of the Teacher Corps, to rest from the rigors of the mortal existence and take strength and comfort in the Love of Our Father, as expressed through his agencies - mortal and divine, and with special thanks to the Daughters of Charity of Canossa who maintain and share the Canossian Spirituality Center where we will convene on Friday February 18 through Sunday February 20, 2005 (with options to extend your stay).
There are, thus far, 37 dynamic personalities anticipated, with others in the wings, waiting for the invitation to their own soul. We have people coming from the states of Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, Arizona, Colorado, Nebraska, Michigan, Mississippi, of course, New Mexico and New Zealand! There is still time to commit; there is still room at the Spirituality Center; and the rates at The Hotel Blue are even lower than I quoted, if you buy them on-line, so come on down! The Hotel Blue even has a shuttle from the airport, but Canossian does not, so we'll need to talk transportation and we also need to touch base on dietary matters. Thus, this post will constitute a statement as well as a request.
January 28 is the cut-off date. Any decisions affecting the Retreat after that date may result in offers of hospitality, but no room and no meals will be included.
LOCAL TRANSPORTATION:
The Center is 7.9 miles (12 minutes) from the Albuquerque International Airport, or $18.20 by taxicab. Hotel Blue is 10 miles (16 minutes ) from the Center, which is $22.20 "on the meter" of a taxi. Below is a URL of a map to The Hotel Blue for those of you who are driving. The Rio Ranch TeaM will see to it that you will get to and from these bases of operation by way of our van if you let us know your time of arrival/departure and the name of your carrier. There will be no fee for this service; however, if there is an impulse to provide remuneration for this or any of the services provided during your stay, there will be a Contribution Box made available at the "Goods and Services" table, with envelopes to denote what your contribution is for, to whom it should be directed, and if you would like to be provided with a tax deductible receipt.
DIRECTIONS:
5625 Isleta Blvd., SW
(505) 452-9402 (days)
>From the North, East and West of Albuquerque, get in I-25 South. Take Rio Bravo, exit 220. At the bottom of the ramp, turn Right (West) onto Rio Bravo. About a mile after you cross the Rio Grande is the Isleta Blvd. intersection. Turn Left (South) on Isleta Blvd. Pass 2 traffic lights (Camino del Valle and Gun Club Road). The CANOSSIAN SPIRITUALITY CENTE is 0.7 of a mile south of GunClub light. On the right, watch for a 6' brown adobe (brown stucco) wall that runs the length of the property, marked by a large sign: "Cristo Rey Convent, 5625 Isleta Blvd".
>From the South of Albuquerque, from I-25, take the Isleta Blvd. exit, exit 213. Take a left (north) onto Isleta. Go north about 4 miles. The Center is on your left, same sign and wall as for southbound traffic. This is a sleepy old Mexico area, the land of "Poco Tiempo" (slow time), so take it easy. No rush, eh?
When you enter the driveway of the Center, you will find a sign for Group Parking to your right. Cars should be parked inside this parking compound, next to the building on the east and north sides. Unload your luggage here.
TO CHECK IN, come through the wooden gate next to the Canossian Spirituality Center sign on the southwest side of the circular driveway (opposite the circular drive from the main entrance off Isleta) and enter the Reception Area through this door. There will be a sign. Sister Necy and I will greet you. Be prepared to pay your balance due for the Retreat Center at this time. You will receive your room assignments and room key. Orientation and housekeeping guidelines will be presented before the Retreat begins.
SNACKS & MEALS:
Beverages and snacks are available in the serving area of the dining room. There is a microwave and small refrigerator available for guests in the same area. There is an icemaker in the snack station in the north wing. Please do not take food out of the dining area.
Please be on time for meals, which are served PROMPTLY at the following times:
Breakfast 8:00 - 8:00 on Sunday; 7:30 - 8:30 (weekdays)
Lunch: 12:00 - 1:00 daily
Dinner: 6:00 - 7:00 daily.
The kitchen is off-limits to guests. If any of you have any special dietary (or housing) needs, please advise me in advance so the Sisters can make your stay as comfortable as possible. Linen and bedding are provided.
GOODS & SERVICES, FACILITIES and ENTERTAINMENT
Open Invitation: Bring them: Books. CD's. T-Shirts. Cosmic Charts. DNA studies. UB Questions. Musical Instruments. Posters. Bumper stickers. Spiritual prescriptions. Stationery. Business Cards. Gemstones. Tapes/ Recorders/ Transmissions. Massages. Backrubs. Prayer requests. Private sessions. The Center will provide a Lecturn, a Flip Chart, a White Board, a microphone at the lecturn in the Conference Room. A clip-on mike. A tape/CD Player. TV/VCR, if we need one. I have a slide projector and screen, 3 or 4 tape recorders, tons of useable old tapes and some new ones. There is a modem in the conference room and, if we had a good reason, we could haul a computer down there, but part of "retreating" is retreating also from the constant frame of reference of a computer screen. Dorenda (Elena) will bring her Piano on Saturday. There is some talk of Santa Fe tenor and Domingo Moralez joining us and singing from his new UB-inspired Oratorio "Apocolypsis" and there is hope that our extended family members Emily and Rianna will engage in a Native American dance for us, but at this time, these possibilities remain uncomfirmed while prayerfully anticipated.
PRAYER AND WORSHIP:
The Canossian Sisters will hold mass in the Chapel in the mornings, before breakfast, and we are welcome to join them. Otherwise, we have access to the Chapel all the rest of the time. Prayer and worship in our own right may be arranged by our group consciousness after we convene. After dinner on Friday (6:00-7:00, we will gather in the conference room for an Opening Prayer and Retreat Orientation and an Official Welcome from our Unseen Heavenly Hosts (and Hostesses!).
