[tmtranscripts] Beware of Viruses from friendly addresses

Hi folks,

Lately, I've seen a couple viruses coming from emails from addresses with familiar names. My email server filters viruses automatically and then notifies me that they captured a virus message, plus I have McAfee Shield on my computer, as well that updates automatically when I turn on my computer. I have searched my system, but nothing pops up on mine.

Most times these are stolen addresses that have been stolen out of someone's address book who actually did get a virus or who had their address book read off their computer by spyware or some such thing. So they aren't actually from the person's email address that shows.

Someone out there on one of the lists I am on has probably caught a virus or has spyware on their computer.

I would recommend that everyone do a check on their systems and make sure they are clean and if you don't have virus protection that updates automatically you're a time bomb waiting to happen.

Also, if you see emails from addresses you recognize with weird subject lines or with attachments, think twice before you open it and contact them first to see if they actually sent the message.

I hope everyone finds their system clean and free. Good virus protection that continually updates usually solves this problem for about $30 a year. Go to www.mcafee.com or some other service if you don't have virus protection on your computer and download it now.

Peace,
Bob
