Subject: [tmtranscripts] I'm back
I think this time it will stick.
Was released yesterday from my third hospitalization in a month.
Sequence:
May 20 - initial surgery - 4.5 hours - much more extensive than
anticipated
May 26 home from hospital
June 1 - visit to surgeon, okay but too weak. Several hours later,
stomach flu ensued - violent vomiting. Mile's had had this three days
earlier and Mark got it the same day I did.
June 2 - still violent vomiting. Could not keep down anti-vomiting
medicine. Dr.s office said if it was still a problem in a week (!!)
call back.
June 8 - vomitting, going downhill, unable to move, care for self.
Readmitted to hospital. Cat scans showed abdominal abscess (common but
undesirable complication of abdominal surgery, especially major ones),
Cat scan guided abscess drainage system installed.
June 11 - released from hospital with drainage system. Still too weak,
nausea intractible. No appetite.
June 12-14 - over weekend, obvious deterioration.
June 15 - readmission to hospital - serious nausea, weakness, drainage
system failure. Treatment for above.
June 18 - released from hospital - still some possible drainage system
problems - had to have suturing and repair same day, then hope.
Appetite finally established. Bowel system finally working fully and
correctly for first time post-op, energy much better, though walked
like old lady without a walker - every which way stagger.
Today - have gone overnight, increased in strength and ability to move,
drain wound clean and uninfected after repair (for the moment), food
intake good. Able to sit here and type this much (tho not much more).
>From the end of May to now - spiritual experience? Survival mode.
Contact primitive but there. Just hanging on. No earth-shattering
insights except to say, it looks like I have survived and can gradually
move forward. This has been an incredible ordeal with extreme pain,
misery, exhaustion, beyond anything I would want anyone to ever have to
go through.
But hopefully, I am now on the other side to the recovery phase at last
- weeks late, but here. They have said this will not be a quick fix.
Am still willing to ascend.
There is a way that such an ordeal affects priorities and viewpoints on
a lot of things. No time for frills. I doubt not that I will emerge
altered from all of this. Just too soon to say how. I do see that a lot
of things we spend efforts on appears to be sheer waste. Maybe I will
change my mind.
Thanks for the love and support.
Love,
Thea
