Dear Gerdean and List,

There is nothing wrong with more than one hub.  True, I do not count on anything happening to me, but the world has no guarantees against such a thing.  Other hubs should be named and rehearsed in the event it is necessary to take over in case the first hub is damaged or lost.  In the multiple hub theory, at least one hub should be agreed upon as the exclusive coordinating effort.  This is to avoid cross purposes and to minimize confusion.  My concern is twofold:  1) for the integrity of the archive (so the collection does get fragmented again and the storing and distribution of all the information is acted upon); 2) to see to it that all the messages collected are forwarded to the coordinating hub from the group/area transcribers on an updated basis (I suggest monthly) so the hard press distributors get something to publish,  and let the mail be the internet until things return to normal through newsletters or journals (is there other means we need to include?).  Area or Regional Hubs probably will sometimes act in all capacities to get the job done and at least coordinate the full archive process with the Coordinating Hub.  Area or Regional Hubs may need to find ways to communicate in their local areas.

All Area or Regional Hubs, in my view, should have the capacity to assume the role of Coordinating Hub if necessary.  Naming names and getting permission and cooperation is what needs to be worked out.  It will have to be done on this list since these activates span a continent and even touch other countries.

Notice all of this is predicated on the US mails working.  Other than smoke signals, I do not know what else will work to maintain a national/international contingency plan for the teachers.  Then we will really have to rely on the local TR and the local group to figure out a way to inform their individual areas.

      I am a great believer in Contingency Plans for, as we know, "the best laid plans of mice and men" oblah oblah.   
      Good thinking, Ron.    
      I have had the conviction for some time that we need to be prepared in the event the wondrous new media of cyber-space should be suddenly, if temporarily, cut off.  Those of us who depend on this method of communication would be bereft (IF such a thing should happen) but at least we know how to sit in Stillness and stay connected.  Those who do not would certainly benefit from the Teacher Corp ... and Friends.   
      This conversation curiously reminds me of the work of David Zebedee, whose messengers kept Jesus' followers apprised far and wide, before public broadcasting systems as we know them existed. 
      I would like to suggest an extension of this contingency plan.  And that would be that more than one person serve at the hub of the transcript wheel.  What if something should happen to YOU?  I do like the idea of several of us being spokes on this wheel, but I'd feel better if you were facilitator of a conclave of, say, three -- you and two others.  Perhaps the spokes of the wheel provide safeguard enough.   
      At any rate, thank you for your foresight and your dedication to the rightful archiving and dissemination of these  morontial efforts.
