MEETING WITH ABRAHAM -- SELF-DISCIPLINE
FEBRUARY 6, 2000
WOODS CROSS GROUP

I am ABRAHAM. Welcome. Tonight's atmosphere is filled with such family love
and support. How can we really fail in any of life's endeavors when there is
support such as this? How beautiful it is when you have enough comfort among
each other to lay out your sorrows or joys in living! How wonderfully safe
we all are in the family of God! We give our unending gratitude to the head
of our family, our most beloved Father.

Father in all His wondrous ways may seem to be such a mystery to us. He may
seem so completely awesome that He is far beyond us and we are seemingly
unnoticed. Father is all-powerful, all-knowing, all-encompassing every
aspect of every existence of everything, but He would have us see Him in a
Fatherly role, a Father who would protect, love, care, teach and guide His
children. He would have you so close to Him that you could not tell where
you begin and He ends. He would have you hear His every whisper of guidance
or word of encouragement. He would have you see with His eyes how love rules
the universes. He would have you feel His strong hand--ensuring you that you
are His child--loved beyond your own understanding. Father would also have
you know that your path to Him is of the utmost importance, and He would
stop at nothing to show you that, even if it means revealing those hard
truths that help you to forge ahead.

Father is strength, love and compassion, but He is also serious about the
spiritual education of each child. Father does carefully lay out plans of
experience for you, but He would have you want to experience them, not be
forced into it. His plans of experience are sometimes difficult and it is
tempting to choose an easier path. The path of ease can create more work for
you and your Father. The carefully laid out plans of Father can direct you
to take in the most value and meaning from each experience.

It is a mortal pattern to learn to be distrusting at times, even sometimes
we can be distrusting of Him, completely natural. Yes. To learn to give
Father all you have so He can make you more takes a constant commitment to
trusting Him. We have spoken of discovering character flaws which block our
divine learning. We are learning to accept these challenges to improve
self-mastery technique. We have learned to feed the soul and be fulfilled
from the inside, rather than the outside.

Self-discipline is not a negative thing; it is not self-denial; it is not
self-punishment, but a redirecting of focus from self to God. It is not
harmful to develop firm, honest and direct self-talk to aid in this
redirecting of focus. Self-chastisement is positive stepping forward in
active participation to co-create with Father. Self-chastisement is not
negative self-bantering which breaks the spirit and depletes energy and
confidence in who you are.

Father asks that we treat ourselves as He would. He is honest and direct.
Sometimes this is painful or shocking, but He would have us know these
things to aid in clearing our path to Him. He does not throw the spears of
honesty at us to wound our spirits into submission. No. He seeks only to
empower you with the ability to make your way.

The Master knew the mortal life could be fraught with difficulty and
ruthlessness. It would have been so simple for Him had He chose to opt out
of the experience. Could He have still made Sovereign Ruler of our universe?
Probably, but the Master's supreme faith and trust in His Father had driven
Him forward with strength and power to not only endure, but be victorious.
He struggled with the mortal mind in aligning His will with Father's. His
numerous journeys into the mountains constantly renewed His faith and trust
in Father's ability to see Him through. The Master nurtured His soul by
allowing Father to care for Him. He was filled from the inside and wanted
not for Himself, but for the glory of His Father in Heaven.

The Master wasted no time in negative self-chatter, but did learn to
discipline His mind into waiting patiently for the word and will of God. He
care not to fulfill a human destiny or to leave a personal legacy, no. He
was only concerned with the good of the whole and that was fulfilled through
the will of the God. Did the Master have prayers of alignment? Yes, most
definitely, several times a day. The mortal will is strong and free to be
about its own agendas. The divine will is in waiting for the mortal wills
acceptance and permission to integrate and make the Kingdom of Heaven come
to life here on earth.

This week I ask you to view yourselves as Father would. See your mistakes as
a child who is just learning. Practice your prayers of alignment to aid in
your self-mastery. That is all. I cannot take questions, but I can meet with
you during the week in your time journaling. Know that one of my joys is to
